BISHOP, Dr. AUDIE FLORIZAL CUMMINGS AIIB MBA BA (Hons) PG. Dip

Bishop Audie F. Cummings is a Project Director for a number of important initiatives that address the needs of people of African descent. This includes a leadership role in the MBADDD campaign that addresses the Mortality of Mother and Babies of African Descent Dying Disproportionately.

The inequality and injustice being perpetuated is that Black Mothers and their Babies are 5 times more likely to die during pregnancy and labour that their counterparts. In November 2018 MBRRACE-UK published a report on how many women had died in childbirth in the UK and Ireland between 2014 and 2016.

It is a well-researched and important document that not only provides the statistics, but also short summaries on the circumstances in which some of these women died and recommendations for how maternity care can be improved. It is a harrowing statistic because behind each statistic is a real woman and a motherless child, but also because there are patterns in the statistics that suggest problems in our maternity system and wider society.

Bishop, Dr. Audie Florizal Cummings is heading a campaign to address why it is that Mothers and Babies of African Descent Dying Disproportionately (MBADDD) are 5X more likely to die than their counterparts. As the Global Ambassador of Black Links Global and the Head of the Bureau of Commercial and Corporate Affairs of SOAD he now acts as a Project Director for important campaigns that address the needs of the people of African descent locally, nationally and internationally.
